Patna, April 5 (NationPress) The political climate in Bihar has escalated regarding the Waqf Amendment Bill-2025. RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav stated on Saturday that if his party assumes power in the state, this Bill will not be enforced in Bihar and will be discarded entirely.

Labeling the Bill as unconstitutional, Yadav, who serves as the Leader of the Opposition in Bihar, accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of employing divisive strategies to divert attention from significant national issues.

“The Waqf Amendment Bill is unconstitutional. It contravenes Article 26 of the Indian Constitution. The BJP is indulging in polarization politics. They aim to distract citizens from pressing matters by provoking religious sentiments,” Yadav remarked.

Taking a direct shot at the BJP and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), Tejashwi accused the central government of circumventing the Constitution.

“They aspire to implement the laws of Nagpur (RSS ideology) throughout India. The BJP and RSS are anti-Constitution. We, on the contrary, advocate for secularism, social justice, and democratic values,” he emphasized.

He further stated that the RJD has consistently upheld its ideology, both in power and in opposition, and vowed that the battle against the Bill would persist at all levels. Yadav also criticized Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, accusing him of self-serving politics and collaborating with the BJP for his own benefit.

“No matter how much anyone attempts to justify their position, nothing will alter. The public is observant. Just as we fight for caste-based reservation, we have lodged a petition in the Supreme Court against the Waqf Bill,” he asserted.

Tejashwi asserted that the BJP's true motive behind the Bill is to marginalize Muslims, Dalits, and backward communities from the mainstream.

“This is a strategy to undermine the most vulnerable. We will not permit this to occur,” he added.

Tejashwi’s comments have introduced a new layer to the political struggle in Bihar, where the debate over the Waqf Amendment Bill has already stirred unrest within parties like JDU, leading to resignations and dissent among several Muslim leaders.
