Barabanki, Nov 4 (NationPress) A devastating road incident unfolded near Bishunpur town on the Deva-Fatehpur road in the Barabanki district of Uttar Pradesh, resulting in the tragic loss of six lives and leaving two individuals in critical condition.

The collision occurred on Monday night when a speeding truck collided head-on with an Ertiga car, which was notably lacking a license plate. The force of the impact was so intense that it crushed the car, triggering panic among witnesses.

The victims have been identified as driver Shrikant Shukla, Pradeep Soni, his wife Madhuri Soni, and their son Nitin, all hailing from Fatehpur town. One of the deceased remains unidentified. The injured individuals are Naimish, the younger son of Pradeep Soni, alongside another unidentified person. All passengers were returning home after a sacred dip in the Ganges at Bithoor in Kanpur.

Upon receiving the alarming news, District Magistrate Shashank Tripathi and Superintendent of Police (SP) Arpit Vijayvargiya promptly arrived at the scene. Police officers swiftly attended to the injured and transported them to the district hospital via ambulance. Due to their serious condition, the victims were subsequently referred to the Lucknow Trauma Centre for specialized care.

SP Arpit Vijayvargiya reported that initial investigations indicate the crash was a result of overspeeding.

“The loss of six lives has been confirmed. The accident resulted in a significant traffic jam, which was resolved after both vehicles were removed using a crane,” he stated.

Chief Medical Officer Awadhesh Kumar Yadav verified that the injured received initial treatment at the local Community Health Centre (CHC) before being sent to Lucknow Trauma Centre.

SP Vijayvargiya added, “There were eight passengers in the car. Five men and one woman tragically lost their lives, while two others sustained injuries. The group had rented the car for a trip and was heading back to Fatehpur when the accident occurred. The bodies have been dispatched for autopsy, and the truck driver is currently on the run.”

Witnesses reported that the truck was traveling at an alarming speed. The driver supposedly lost control upon seeing the approaching car, leading to the catastrophic crash. The police have since impounded the truck.
