Jaipur, Jan 14 (NationPress) Tragically, six women lost their lives, and three others were seriously injured when an Ertiga car collided head-on with a truck on the Jaipur–Bikaner National Highway in Sikar district, Rajasthan, on Wednesday, according to police reports.

The incident occurred around 4 p.m. near Harsawa village, falling under the jurisdiction of the Fatehpur police station.

As per police accounts, the victims, all members of the same family, were returning from a funeral in Laxmangarh. They were traveling in two vehicles when the Ertiga, which was ahead, collided with the truck coming from the opposite direction.

The force of the impact was so great that the car was utterly demolished, leaving the occupants trapped within the wreckage.

Local residents hurried to the scene, providing assistance in rescuing the injured and retrieving the bodies from the wreck before emergency services arrived, as per eyewitnesses.

The injured were taken to the trauma center in Fatehpur for initial treatment. However, their conditions worsened, prompting a referral to a more advanced medical facility, an official reported.

According to Surendra Singh, the officer in charge of the Fatehpur police station, the Ertiga was traveling from Laxmangarh to Fatehpur while the truck was headed towards Sikar.

“All passengers in the car were part of the same family, returning home from a funeral. Unfortunately, six women died at the scene due to the collision's severity,” said SHO Singh.

The police are currently confirming the identities of the deceased and injured while notifying their families.

The truck has been confiscated and is in police custody as investigations commence to determine the cause of the accident.

Initial assessments indicate that excessive speed may have played a role in the crash, although mechanical failure and human error are still under consideration.

Traffic on the Jaipur–Bikaner highway, a heavily traveled route, faced delays as rescue operations and clearance efforts were conducted.
