Patna, March 21 (NationPress) The Railway Protection Force (RPF) has apprehended nine individuals for throwing stones at trains in Bihar, specifically targeting various trains within the Danapur and Samastipur Divisions, as confirmed by an official on Friday.
These incidents occurred between February 1 and 25 this year.
The stone-throwing incidents took place at railway stations in Madhubani, Ara, Islampur, Buxar, Danapur, and other locations under the Danapur and Samastipur divisions, affecting a total of 11 different trains.
As a result, FIRs were filed based on CCTV footage.
On February 10, an RPF team arrested an individual for stone pelting, charging them under Sections 145B, 146, 153, and 174A of the Railway Act in Madhubani district.
In Ara, four individuals were detained under Section 153 of the Railway Act for similar offenses.
In Islampur of Nalanda district, a person was arrested for breaking train windows, while two individuals faced similar charges at both Buxar and Danapur railway stations.
The accused primarily targeted the AC coaches of express trains such as the Vande Bharat Express, Tejas Rajdhani, and other express services.
Recently, the frequency of stone pelting incidents has escalated, jeopardizing the safety and security of passengers.
Railway officials have urged the public to avoid damaging national property.
They noted that CCTV cameras have been installed at all stations, with ongoing efforts to place them at strategic locations along the tracks.
This initiative aims to identify miscreants who vandalize railway assets and cause derailments.
Recently, numerous incidents have been reported involving anti-social elements intentionally displacing railway tracks.
Officials stated that CCTV footage would serve as critical evidence in identifying the offenders, leading to stringent legal actions against them.
