Kolkata, Feb 27 (NationPress) Two individuals were taken into custody for committing vandalism at the Bandel railway station on Thursday. These arrests align with the railways' zero-tolerance policy towards such acts within its facilities and aboard trains.

“We have explicit directives from higher authorities that no form of vandalism is acceptable. A juvenile was recently apprehended for damaging AC coaches of the Swatantrata Senani Express at Madhubani station earlier this month. The Railway Protection Force (RPF) is actively monitoring all stations,” stated an Eastern Railway spokesperson.

The spokesperson mentioned that an incident occurred between some individuals and a booking clerk at Bandel station around 3:25 PM on Thursday.

According to him, the individuals were in line to purchase unreserved tickets when the paper roll unexpectedly ran out, leading to an altercation when the booking clerk requested a brief moment to replace it.

“This is a standard procedure. Paper rolls need to be swapped periodically, which takes only about 2-3 minutes. Unfortunately, the customers at the UTS counter refused to cooperate and began to break the windows of the booking counter. When the RPF intervened, they assaulted constable Raju Das. Ultimately, the RPF had to disperse those causing the disruption. Two of them were apprehended and handed over to the Government Railway Police (GRP) at Bandel station,” the spokesperson added.

A case has also been filed against them under relevant sections of the Railways Act.
