New Delhi, Nov 24 (NationPress) A year after the violence that occurred during the Jama Masjid survey in Sambhal on November 24, 2024, the city has returned to a state of calm and tranquility. Zafar Ali, the President of Sambhal Jama Masjid, stated on Monday that the violence that swept through the city last year is now behind us, and the current situation is entirely normal.
Zafar Ali remarked to IANS, “The events of 24 November 2024 were regrettable, but they are now history. One year later, the city is functioning normally. We haven't issued any special instructions regarding namaz or other arrangements; everything will proceed as it always has. Hindus and Muslims are coexisting peacefully, and there are no incidents of unrest.”
“Security forces are actively present in the area to uphold peace. The police are performing their duties, and we are fulfilling ours. There have been no alterations in the namaz proceedings; we continue to attend namaz as usual. I urge my brothers to uphold peace and unity,” he added.
Residents shared similar views, commending the administration and security measures taken over the past year.
One local expressed, “Sambhal has never experienced such effective administration before. The manner in which they managed the situation prevented a significant disaster.”
Another resident added, “The administration is functioning exceptionally well, security forces are present everywhere, and the community feels secure.”
In light of the anniversary, authorities have implemented heightened security throughout the district. Sambhal Police are on high alert, with additional personnel stationed in sensitive areas.
A comprehensive security strategy has been initiated, including patrols by RAF units, PAC personnel, and local police. Enhanced area dominance is being enforced around the Jama Masjid, with extra personnel assigned to sensitive locations.
CCTV cameras have been set up at last year’s violence site and surrounding areas, with live monitoring from the Satyavrat Chowki control room. Officers are in continuous coordination with ground teams to ensure law and order is maintained.
The Jama Masjid in Sambhal, constructed during the reign of the first Mughal emperor Babur between 1526 and 1530, is one of three notable mosques built during his rule, alongside the mosque at Panipat and the now-demolished Babri Masjid in Ayodhya.
As Sambhal observes the first anniversary of the unrest, both authorities and community leaders are underscoring the importance of peace, harmony, and vigilance to guarantee that the city remains calm and secure.
