Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport Earns NECA 2024 for Energy Efficiency Excellence

Ahmedabad, December 14 (NationPress) Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport (SVPIA), under the management of Adani Airport Holdings Limited (AAHL), has been honored with the prestigious Certificate of Merit at the National Energy Conservation Awards 2024 (NECA 2024), marking it as the only airport in India to achieve this remarkable recognition, as announced on Saturday.

AAHL, a branch of Adani Enterprises Ltd, has been acknowledged for its outstanding dedication to energy conservation.

The NECA Awards, facilitated by the Bureau of Energy Efficiency within the Ministry of Power, celebrates organizations that exhibit exceptional accomplishments in energy efficiency.

“The commitment of SVPI Airport to sustainability surpasses mere energy conservation. The airport is vigorously engaging in efforts to minimize its environmental footprint, which includes waste reduction, recycling, and the adoption of fully renewable energy sources,” the company stated.

By leveraging innovative technologies and sustainable methodologies, SVPI Airport is establishing a new standard for the aviation sector.

“This NECA 2024 award validates the airport's commitment to fostering a greener and more sustainable future,” remarked Adani Airport Holdings.

SVPI Airport has executed an extensive array of energy-saving initiatives, incorporating advanced systems with high-efficiency cooling that have replaced older, less efficient chillers and cooling towers, leading to a notable decrease in energy consumption.

The deployment of centralized chiller systems and energy-efficient Variable Refrigerant Volume (VRV) air conditioning systems has greatly enhanced the energy performance of the airport’s Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems.

Water conservation efforts at the airport include the installation of water-efficient aerators and the recycling of sewage water for various applications, such as horticulture and its use in HVAC systems.

“The shift towards sustainable transportation through the utilization of electric vehicles for airport operations has enabled SVPI Airport to considerably lower its carbon footprint and fossil fuel consumption,” it emphasized.

The exceptional performance of Adani Enterprises Ltd (AEL) in the first half of this fiscal year has been driven by Adani New Industries Ltd (ANIL) and Adani Airport Holdings Ltd (AAHL), with their swift expansion in capacity and asset utilization.
