Reasi, Oct 4 (NationPress) The Rural Self Employment Training Institute (SBI-RSETI) of the State Bank of India is making strides in empowering young women in Reasi, Jammu and Kashmir, through a dedicated tailoring training programme for women. This initiative seeks to provide local women with essential skills in the tailoring industry, paving the way for them to achieve financial independence and self-employment.

Currently, 35 enthusiastic young women are taking part in this free-of-charge training programme. Participants are provided with free study materials, meals, and accommodation, thus removing any financial obstacles to their education.

The course is tailored for those aspiring to launch their own boutique or secure positions in established tailoring and fashion businesses. It encompasses a wide range of skills, including stitching techniques and styles such as A-line kurtis, frocks, lehenga cholis, and uniforms, effectively preparing them for the marketplace.

The initiative's primary aim is to deliver skill-based education to women in Reasi, enhancing their economic conditions and enabling them to lead dignified lives. By uplifting these young women, SBI-RSETI is instigating positive transformations within the community, especially for individuals who previously encountered barriers due to limited resources.

This programme is also in alignment with national campaigns like “Beti Padhao, Beti Bachao”, which advocate for women’s empowerment and entrepreneurship as vital components of social progress.

The Director of SBI-RSETI remarked, “Our aim is to guarantee that every girl in Reasi has the chance to pursue her aspirations. This training transcends being a mere course; it marks a pivotal step towards self-reliance and empowerment.”

A participant shared her insights: “We are engaged in a 31-day course where we learn stitching and various styles. I have mastered designs like A-line kurtis, frocks, lehenga cholis, and uniforms. There are additional techniques to be learned in the upcoming days. This training has truly empowered us. Everything is provided free of charge, including meals and lodging. The staff is exceptionally kind and supportive. I am grateful to the government. After this course, we intend to utilize these skills to secure our livelihoods.”

Another participant expressed, “I have acquired a wealth of knowledge here, from crafting frocks to lehengas. The complimentary training has brought me immense joy, and I believe it will assist me in launching my own business. I am thankful that the government is prioritizing women’s empowerment.”
