Jammu, Dec 17 (NationPress) A Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) was initiated on Wednesday by combined security forces in the Mansar region of Jammu and Kashmir’s Samba district following reports from villagers about suspicious activities in the vicinity.

Officials disclosed that residents in a community near Mansar had observed individuals behaving suspiciously in the area.

“A police unit quickly responded to the situation and commenced a CASO, which was subsequently supported by personnel from the Army and the CRPF,” officials stated.

The search area encompasses forests, agricultural lands, and various other sites being scoured by the forces.

“Security forces in Mansar and surrounding locations have been placed on high alert,” the officials remarked.

Further information is pending.

In a separate anti-terrorism operation conducted by joint forces in the Udhampur district, one police officer lost his life, and two others sustained injuries on Tuesday.

Reports indicated that one terrorist was injured during the encounter with the combined forces. According to intelligence reports, three terrorists linked to the Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) group had entered a village seeking food, prompting the launch of this operation.

Additional areas have been included in the search operation as it is believed the fleeing terrorists may have retreated into nearby forested regions.

The Jammu and Kashmir Police alongside security forces are actively conducting operations against terrorists, their associates, and sympathizers, aiming to eliminate the underlying support structure for terrorism within the union territory.

They are also focusing on drug traffickers, peddlers, and participants in hawala money schemes, as these illicit activities are suspected to finance terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir.

This year, Udhampur has experienced four significant clashes between security forces and terrorists. Notably, a high-ranking JeM commander from Pakistan was neutralized in one of these confrontations in the Basantgarh area of Udhampur on June 26.
