Bhubaneswar, Dec 9 (NationPress) - The Police Commissioner for Bhubaneswar-Cuttack, Suresh Dev Datta Singh, announced on Monday that extensive security measures have been implemented for the forthcoming India-South Africa T20 match at Barabati Stadium on December 9.
Commissioner Singh highlighted the immense excitement among supporters leading up to this thrilling encounter, with significant ticket demand and large crowds anticipated.
To ensure a seamless and safe experience for both fans and players, police have made detailed preparations. Approximately 1,700 police officers will be stationed around the stadium, including specialized units like the Special Tactical Unit, Bomb Disposal Squad, Disaster Response Force, and surveillance teams.
Local police forces from Cuttack will also be engaged to enhance the security framework. Access control measures have been reinforced, and crowd management strategies have been finalized to minimize inconvenience for attendees.
“Our objective is to ensure that the match proceeds without any issues, causing minimal disruption to the public. We have implemented robust and effective security protocols to address all potential scenarios,” Singh stated.
Arrangements have also been made for the arrival and movement of the teams, including their practice sessions and hotel security.
The Commissioner urged fans without tickets not to congregate near the stadium, recalling previous instances where large crowds caused pressure during entry. He encouraged these fans to enjoy the practice sessions, which will be accessible for viewing.
Singh reassured that the police are fully equipped to guarantee a secure and well-managed international cricket event in Cuttack.
Notably, the Twin City police have established extensive security protocols for the safety of players, officials, and fans.
According to official sources, a total of 22 platoons of force and 111 officers have been mobilized for Bhubaneswar, ensuring security at their accommodations and for route lining.
“Alongside these comprehensive traffic arrangements, static ambulance services, a Bomb Disposal Squad, plainclothes officers, and aerial surveillance have been arranged. To provide continuous security and immediate response to any situation, the Special Tactical Unit has been deployed,” stated the Commissionerate Police in a press release.
To ensure a smooth and incident-free match, a total of 411 officers in Cuttack and 57 platoons of force, along with 420 Tr. Hav/ORs & Constables, have been stationed at Barabati Stadium and strategic locations across Cuttack.
