Kolkata, July 31 (NationPress) The West Bengal Leader of the Opposition (LoP) and seasoned BJP leader, Suvendu Adhikari, voiced his concerns regarding the security risks for booth level officers (BLOs) in the state who choose not to align with the ruling Trinamool Congress government.
Adhikari stated, "There have been reports of an Enforcement Directorate (ED) official facing an attack in Sandeshkhali. Additionally, National Investigation Agency (NIA) officials were assaulted at Bhupatinagar. Instances of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee staging a protest at the CBI office in Nizam Palace, Kolkata, and assaults on Opposition MLAs in the Assembly are also alarming. Thus, we are concerned about the safety of the BLOs."
He further emphasized that the Trinamool Congress leadership is fabricating misleading narratives about the planned special intensive review by the Election Commission of India.
Adhikari remarked, "This is not unprecedented. A similar review was conducted in 2002. While Trinamool Congress may attempt to influence the process, they will not succeed in retaining the names of four voter categories on the list: deceased voters, non-existent voters, duplicate entries, and illegal Bangladeshi and Rohingya infiltrators."
He assured that authentic Indian voters from any religious background, including Muslims, need not worry as their names will remain intact during the special intensive revision.
LoP Adhikari mentioned he has reliable bureaucratic allies within the state administration, consistently aiding him by sharing crucial information.
"Approximately 20 Indian Administrative Service Officers and around 100 West Bengal Civil Service officers are regularly providing me with insights," he stated.
In response to Adhikari's claims, Trinamool Congress Vice-President, Jaiprakash Majumdar, called for an investigation to uncover which bureaucrats are allegedly acting as informants, leaking sensitive administrative matters.
