Guwahati, Oct 30 (NationPress) Assam's Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has fiercely criticized Congress leaders Priyank Kharge and Gaurav Gogoi for their opposition to the semiconductor plant planned for the Jagiroad region in the state.
Speaking to journalists, CM Sarma stated, "The Congress leaders have been vocal against the Tata Group's decision to establish a semiconductor facility in Assam, claiming it should have been allocated to Karnataka due to our supposed lack of skilled labor. This mindset is absurd, and their comments indicate that Congress is against Assam's progress."
He expressed gratitude to the Central government for prioritizing states needing industrial development and acknowledged the Tata Group's choice to invest in Assam.
Sarma remarked, "Industries in Karnataka are often run by individuals from other states. I firmly believe Assam possesses a wealth of talent for significant industries. The statements made by Gogoi and Kharge have unveiled their 'anti-Assam' stance, and the public should remember their words."
He emphasized that securing the semiconductor industry for Assam is a monumental achievement, further highlighting that the Congress leaders' comments affirm this fact.
"The Congress government in Karnataka cannot fathom that Assam has been granted a semiconductor plant. The people of Assam might not fully grasp the magnitude of this achievement by the current government. However, thanks to the remarks from Kharge and Gogoi, everyone now recognizes the significance of this semiconductor plant," added CM Sarma, expressing his gratitude to the Congress leaders for illuminating the accomplishments of the BJP government.
Previously, a considerable political uproar transpired in Assam following remarks from Karnataka's Rural Development Minister and Congress figure Priyank Kharge, which questioned the capabilities of Assam's youth in relation to India's burgeoning semiconductor industry.
Kharge's statements have sparked a significant backlash throughout the state, prompting strong denunciations from CM Sarma and the Bharatiya Janata Party.
The Chief Minister condemned Kharge's remarks, labeling them as "an affront to the dignity and efforts of Assam's youth."
"Priyank Kharge has revealed himself to be profoundly ignorant. His comments reflect a biased viewpoint that undermines the youth of Assam. By doubting their education and abilities, he has insulted every young professional from our state. The Congress party's failure to denounce his comments illustrates their perspective on the Northeast. We are contemplating legal action against him for his divisive and derogatory remarks," noted CM Sarma.
