Amaravati, Oct 28 (NationPress) - Cyclone Montha has escalated in intensity within the Bay of Bengal, transforming into a severe cyclone. It is anticipated to make landfall along the Andhra Pradesh coast between Machilipatnam and Kalingapatnam, near Kakinada, on Tuesday night.
The Andhra Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority (APSDA) reported this morning that the cyclone has been moving at a speed of 15 km/h over the past six hours and is currently located 190 km from Machilipatnam, 270 km from Kakinada, and 340 km from Visakhapatnam.
Prakhar Jain, Managing Director of ASDMA, indicated that during the cyclone's landfall, winds could reach speeds of 90-110 km/h. The cyclone's impact is expected to bring very heavy rainfall across the entire Andhra coast, from Srikakulam to Nellore, with some regions likely to experience extremely heavy downpours.
