New Delhi, May 19 (NationPress) Veteran Indian pacer Mohammed Shami has made a courtesy visit to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath at his official residence in Lucknow on Monday.
CM Yogi posted images from the meeting on his official X account, captioning it, "Today, I had a courtesy meeting with the well-known Indian cricket star Mohammed Shami at my official residence in Lucknow."
Shami, who missed the last IPL season due to an ankle injury that required surgery on his right foot in March 2024, has faced challenges this season, taking only six wickets in nine matches for Sunrisers Hyderabad with an average of 56.17 and an economy rate of 11.23.
This season, he narrowly avoided setting the IPL record for the most expensive four-over spell, having conceded 75 runs against Punjab Kings (PBKS), just shy of Jofra Archer's 76 for Rajasthan Royals (RR) against Sunrisers Hyderabad.
After being out for nearly a year due to an injury sustained during the 2023 World Cup final, Shami returned to competitive cricket in the Ranji Trophy late last year for Bengal. He was included in the squads for the Syed Mushtaq Ali (T20) and Vijay Hazare Trophy (50-over) before returning to the Indian team for the home T20I series against England in January-February.
Earlier this month, Shami received a death threat via email. The FIR, filed by the Cyber Crime Police Station of UP's Amroha district, cited offenses under various sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Information Technology Act, with the sender demanding a ransom of Rs one crore.
