Jaipur, June 25 (NationPress) Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat and Rajasthan Water Resources Minister Suresh Rawat launched a fierce counteroffensive against former Chief Minister and seasoned Congress figure Ashok Gehlot concerning his recent assertions of a conspiracy to unseat current Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma.
Rawat accused the former Congress administration in the state of indulging in internal plots and political theatrics, while Shekhawat circulated a meme depicting Ashok Gehlot and Rahul Gandhi inaugurating a shop named ‘Jhooth Ki Dukan’ (Shop of Lies), captioned: “The ribbon was cut, but the goods weren’t sold.”
This sarcastic commentary aimed to underscore what he perceives as the Congress party's ongoing efforts to mislead the public with unfounded narratives.
Rawat remarked: “For five years, Ashok Gehlot and Sachin Pilot were embroiled in ceaseless power struggles, conspiring against each other. The Congress government was plagued by internal discord, severely hindering Rajasthan's development.”
He further claimed that with Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma at the helm, Rajasthan is now progressing towards comprehensive development.
“Congress leaders are struggling to accept this advancement and are attempting to mislead the public to divert attention from their own shortcomings,” he added.
Union Minister Shekhawat also took a jab at Gehlot's allegations, mocking the former CM's claims of a conspiracy to remove the current Rajasthan Chief Minister by sharing a meme featuring Congress MP Rahul Gandhi alongside Gehlot, captioned as 'jhooth ki dukaan'.
It is important to note that Gehlot, earlier on Wednesday, insinuated that a conspiracy exists to displace Bhajan Lal Sharma from his position as Chief Minister.
He accused party leaders operating between Delhi and Rajasthan of orchestrating this conspiracy. Addressing the media at the Jodhpur Circuit House, Gehlot stated: "A conspiracy is in motion to unseat Chief Minister Sharma. We have been trying to alert him, but he is dismissing our warnings."
Expressing concern for CM Sharma, Gehlot remarked: "He is a first-time CM. We believe he deserves a fair opportunity. However, the situation in Rajasthan is dire. Instead of supporting him, some within his party are attempting to undermine him."
In response to the criticisms from the Opposition, Gehlot clarified: "We cannot make baseless accusations against him, as it has only been one and a half years since this government took office. We are merely presenting facts that the public is already discussing."
Bhajan Lal Sharma, the MLA from Sanganer, triumphed in the 2023 Rajasthan Assembly elections by defeating Congress candidate Pushpendra Bhardwaj with a margin of 48,081 votes.
Importantly, on Monday, Chief Minister Sharma asserted: "Our one and a half years of governance have surpassed their (Congress) five-year rule."
The Chief Minister accused Congress of exploiting the disadvantaged under the slogan of 'Garibi Hatao'.
