Shiv Sena (UBT) Defends Kejriwal, Claims Delhi L-G Shows BJP Favoritism, Critiques Congress

Mumbai, Jan 9 (NationPress) The Shiv Sena (UBT) on Thursday expressed concerns regarding the impartiality of the Delhi Lieutenant Governor (L-G) during the election period, claiming that he showed favoritism towards the BJP. Additionally, the party has criticized the Congress for targeting the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) instead of the BJP.

Through its official publication, Saamana, Uddhav Thackeray's party has alleged that the L-G's actions promote a specific political agenda.

The pointed editorial entitled ‘Haryana, Maharashtra and now Delhi’ stated: "Delhi is a union territory where the L-G holds significant power. However, he is currently acting as an agent for the Union Home Ministry. Following the implementation of the Model Code of Conduct for the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections, the L-G has stripped the chief minister and all ministers of their powers. His actions serve the BJP, which poses a serious threat. While the Election Commission professes transparency in the electoral process, numerous clandestine activities favoring the BJP are occurring. The BJP is willing to resort to any means to secure victory in the Delhi Assembly elections. Citizens must remain vigilant and cautious."

The Saamana editorial criticizes the Prime Minister, Home Minister, and BJP's central ministers, asserting that they are mobilizing to ensure the party's success. It claims that the BJP is determined to defeat Arvind Kejriwal and seize control of the Delhi Assembly, willing to go to great lengths to undermine the AAP, which is unacceptable.

It further added, "On ethical grounds, the PM and HM should distance themselves from the Delhi Assembly elections, which is imperative for the health of our democracy."

"The BJP's strategy is to claim victory everywhere, establishing a new norm where no political opposition is tolerated. This pattern has already been witnessed in Maharashtra and Haryana, and now it is Delhi's turn. Irregularities in Delhi's voter registry have been reported, with many names excluded under the pretext of labeling them as Rohingyas and Bangladeshis. AAP has lodged complaints about this, yet the Chief Election Commissioner is unwilling to consider their arguments. The CEC maintains that EVMs are secure and cannot be tampered with in India," states the editorial.

The editorial also took aim at its INDIA bloc ally, the Congress, for intensifying its criticism of AAP rather than targeting the BJP.

"The competition in the Delhi Assembly elections is solely between the BJP and AAP. The Congress party is participating but is focusing its attacks on Arvind Kejriwal and AAP instead of the Bharatiya Janata Party. This must be perplexing to the citizens of Delhi...," asserts the editorial. It warns that the BJP may go to extreme lengths to manipulate the Delhi Assembly elections and urges the public to remain cautious and alert.
