Key Takeaways
New Delhi, Dec 24 (NationPress) In light of the ongoing leadership dispute, Karnataka's Deputy Chief Minister and State Congress President D. K. Shivakumar expressed his preference for being a party worker instead of holding any official title.
During a press gathering at Karnataka Bhavan in Delhi, he stated, "I cherish my role as a party worker more than any position within the party. That remains my fixed role. Since 1980, I have been dedicated to being a party worker, and I intend to uphold that commitment in the years to come."
When questioned about his satisfaction with serving as Deputy Chief Minister for the next five years, Shivakumar replied, "I will continue as a party worker. The role of a party worker is the only enduring position for me."
In response to inquiries about breakfast meetings with Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, he remarked, "I cannot disclose the particulars of our discussions. We are united in our efforts and will persist in our collaboration. We collectively brought this government to power. Every party worker in our state has contributed their hard work and support, and I am immensely grateful to the citizens for bestowing upon us a substantial mandate. We have fulfilled our promises and will continue to do so."
"The high command has entrusted us with autonomy. It is not solely Shivakumar or Siddaramaiah—every legislator and candidate has made sacrifices to achieve our success," he emphasized.
Addressing rumors regarding a leadership conflict, Shivakumar stated, "Only the media engages in such speculation. There is no such discourse within the party or the government."
"There is no uncertainty about a shift in Chief Minister. Breakfast meetings are routine. We engage in similar discussions with all, including the Chief Minister, media representatives, industrialists, entrepreneurs, bureaucrats, and regular citizens. This is part of our daily responsibilities," he concluded.
