Siddaramaiah: People's Support Essential for Chief Ministership
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Mysuru, March 7 (NationPress) - Karnataka's Chief Minister, Siddaramaiah, emphasized on Saturday that achieving the position of Chief Minister hinges on the support of the people. He reiterated that his mission centers on uplifting the impoverished and marginalized segments of society.
Extending his congratulations to residents of the Chamundeshwari and Varuna constituencies, the Chief Minister remarked on the widely held belief that divine presence is felt in temples, and that worship fosters well-being.
“While I respect the notion that worshiping God yields good outcomes, I hold the belief that God is omnipresent,” he asserted.
Siddaramaiah currently serves as the representative for the Varuna Assembly constituency, having previously held the Chamundeshwari Assembly seat.
The Chief Minister reflected on his political journey that began in 1978 when he contested the Taluk Development Board elections, gaining the trust of the people. He has since enjoyed their continued support in subsequent Assembly elections.
“Thanks to the blessings of the constituents from Mysuru taluk, specifically Chamundeshwari and Varuna, I have secured victory in eight elections, which has enabled me to assume the role of Chief Minister. Achieving this position is only possible through the endorsement of the populace,” he elaborated.
He mentioned his visit to Pillahalli for a temple event, which was a testament to the affection shown by the local villagers.
“From 1978 to the present, and into the future, I am confident that I will maintain the support of the people in this area,” he added.
Siddaramaiah recalled his childhood visits to the Dandimaramma Temple, urging that people should remember God not only during difficult times but in all situations.
“We must embrace the belief that while there are many names for one God, God resides in all places, including within ourselves. What truly matters is wishing well for everyone,” he stated, adding that no faith or caste promotes hatred, but rather advocates for love.
The Chief Minister articulated that the government’s initiatives aim to mitigate social disparities and promote equality.
“Every segment of society, irrespective of caste, religion, or community, should attain both economic and social empowerment. The Shakti scheme was enacted to combat gender discrimination and fortify women's empowerment. My primary goal is to uplift the poor and marginalized. True social justice can only be realized when benefits reach the most disadvantaged individuals in society,” he emphasized.
On Saturday, Siddaramaiah expressed his intention to present two additional Budgets during the remainder of his government’s term, contingent on approval from the party leadership.
When further questioned about his confidence in presenting two more Budgets, Siddaramaiah replied, “The people across the state desire this. However, the decision of the party leadership is what ultimately counts.”
When probed about his confidence in this matter, he stated, “I have faith. I will adhere to the decisions made by the leadership. It’s not about breaking records in Budget presentations; if the people grant us the opportunity, it can be done.”
Responding to inquiries about his trust in the party leadership, Siddaramaiah affirmed, “We always hold confidence in the leadership.”
