Sikkim's Chief Minister Initiates Construction of Kunzang Chokhorling Monastery

Gangtok, Dec 1 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Sikkim, Prem Singh Tamang, initiated the construction of the Kunzang Chokhorling Monastery in the Hee Patal area, situated in the western part of the state, on Sunday, according to officials.
The Chief Minister engaged in discussions with the monastery committee, marking a significant achievement in the area's spiritual and cultural progress.
Accompanying him were Cabinet Ministers, MLAs, Chairpersons, Advisors, former legislators, and other esteemed guests.
In the meantime, preparations are underway to celebrate 50 years of statehood in Sikkim next year.
A review meeting was held on Friday at the Tashiling Secretariat's conference hall in Gangtok to plan the celebration.
This meeting, chaired by Chief Secretary Vijay Bhushan Pathak, included R Telang, Additional Chief Secretary, A K Singh, Director General of Police, along with Heads of Departments and state government officials.
A senior official commented, "The meeting involved a comprehensive discussion about the arrangements for the forthcoming 50 years of Statehood Celebrations. This year-long event will encompass a variety of activities, and officials meticulously deliberated on different aspects, including scheduling and task distribution."
The Chief Secretary highlighted the need for seamless collaboration among officials to guarantee the event's success, marking a crucial milestone in the state's history.
Additional duties were assigned to various departments to ensure the celebrations proceed smoothly and successfully.
Previously, Sikkim's Chief Minister Tamang met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the national capital to formally invite him to be the Chief Guest at Sikkim's Statehood Day celebration.
The upcoming Statehood Day on May 16 holds great significance as it will mark 50 years since Sikkim was incorporated as the 22nd State of India in 1975.
"This historic milestone symbolizes the realization of long-cherished dreams, the creation of new opportunities for the people of Sikkim, and the state's integration into India's democratic framework. The merger has been instrumental in Sikkim's progress, introducing modern institutions, advancements in science and technology, along with numerous chances for comprehensive development," CM Tamang remarked in a social media update after meeting PM Modi.
