Giriraj Singh Blasts Rahul Gandhi for 'Tourist-Like' Visit to Makar Dwar
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
New Delhi, March 13 (NationPress) Union Minister Giriraj Singh on Friday criticized Lok Sabha Leader of the Opposition (LoP) Rahul Gandhi, alleging that he treated the Parliament's 'Makar Dwar' like a mere tourist attraction. He further claimed that LoP Gandhi was observed enjoying tea and coffee at the 'Dwar', while also supposedly disrespecting the nation.
This incident followed a recent moment where the Congress MP was seen sipping tea with fellow MPs at Makar Dwar amidst a protest on the Parliament grounds.
Singh emphasized that Rahul Gandhi was neglecting his responsibilities as LoP, remarking, "They believe that frequent visits to foreign nations grant them expertise in foreign policy."
He added, "Even during the Covid pandemic, he contributed to confusion by questioning, 'Why aren’t we vaccinating the children?'"
Expressing his admiration for Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Singh noted that PM Modi prioritized the welfare of Indian citizens and even extended vaccine support to other nations amid the pandemic.
Singh accused the Congress party of fostering confusion and challenging the country's foreign policy. "The Congress is spreading misinformation akin to urban naxals," he stated to reporters outside the Parliament.
These remarks came shortly after LoP Gandhi raised concerns about LPG shortages affecting the hotel industry due to the West Asia crisis, declaring that this was merely the "beginning of pain" that would worsen over time.
While addressing the Lok Sabha regarding the West Asia crisis, he indicated that the US-Israel-Iran conflict would have significant repercussions for all, including India, which is becoming increasingly apparent.
"The hardships have just commenced. Restaurants are closing, panic over LPG is widespread, and street vendors are suffering. This is just the start," he commented in the Lok Sabha.
LoP Gandhi also criticized the Union government, questioning how former US President Donald Trump could dictate India's oil purchase decisions.
He asked, "How can a third country determine from whom and where India should procure its oil? Is it acceptable for us to negotiate with different oil suppliers? This is what has been compromised."
