New Delhi, April 17 (NationPress) Delhi Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa visited the Ghazipur landfill site in eastern Delhi on Thursday to evaluate the progress of the remediation efforts and examine the existing environmental and infrastructural conditions.

After reviewing the advancements, the Minister took the initiative to plant a sapling at the landfill, which is slated to be transformed into a green zone following the removal of the extensive garbage piles.

“In alignment with the vision of PM @narendramodi Ji and the guidance of CM @gupta rekha Ji, we are dedicated to creating a cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable Delhi,” the Minister for Environment, Forest and Wildlife conveyed in a message shared on the social media platform X.

The current remediation efforts at Ghazipur involve the removal and processing of waste, which includes separating materials such as plastic, paper, and bricks through bio-remediation methods. This initiative is part of a broader plan aiming to eliminate garbage mountains by the end of 2026.

Last month, the Minister also visited the Bhalswa landfill in northern Delhi and proclaimed that it would be cleared and transformed into a green bamboo forest by 2026.

Sirsa also stated that no new garbage mountains would be formed in the future.

The Minister accused the Municipal Corporation of Delhi, which is governed by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), of deliberately burning waste in neighborhoods and exacerbating Delhi's air pollution to tarnish the image of the BJP government.

He asserted that since the BJP took over in Delhi, there has been considerable progress in lowering pollution levels.

In a video message shared on X, Sirsa noted, “Since the BJP assumed control in Delhi, we have been actively working to curb pollution, and we have achieved success. The air quality is improving, with many cleaner days.”

He further accused the AAP of resorting to extreme measures to disrupt the city’s air quality.

“It is disheartening to witness, but the AAP has descended to such lows that they are now gathering trash in parks and igniting it. I have shared a video of this incident. This is being executed solely to pollute the air and defame the BJP,” claimed Sirsa.
