Srinagar, Nov 19 (NationPress) The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the J&K Crime Branch announced on Wednesday that it has filed a charge sheet against six individuals implicated in the significant CAT record tampering case at the court of the Chief Judicial Magistrate in Srinagar.

According to a statement, the EOW of the Crime Branch Kashmir has submitted a charge sheet in FIR No. 87/2022, citing violations under Sections 209, 409, 420, 467, 468, 471, and 120-B of the Indian Penal Code before the Hon’ble Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate, Srinagar.

The charge sheet involves the following accused individuals: Pathan Majid Ahmad Khan, son of Mohammad Dilawar Khan, a resident of Takia Khan, Sopore; Mushtaq Ahmad Rather, son of Ghulam Mohammad Rather, a resident of Ali Bagh Hygam; Mudasir Yousuf Wani, son of Mohammad Yousuf Wani, a resident of Tujjar Sharief, Sopore; Ghulam Mohammad Reshi, son of Ghulam Ahmad Reshi, a resident of Yamberzal Wani (Harda-Shiva), Sopore; Bashir Ahmad Dar, son of Ghulam Mohammad Dar, a resident of Bonpora, Nowpora Sopore; and Anoop Mishra, son of Santosh Kumar Mishra, a resident of Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh.

The case arose from a report indicating potential tampering of official documents submitted to the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) in TA No. 4100/2021 by the office of the Chief Horticulture Officer. This led to the registration of a formal case and the initiation of an investigation. It was found that the records presented to the CAT in Srinagar had been unlawfully altered while in custody.

The primary accused, Pathan Majid Ahmad Khan, allegedly conspired with Anoop Mishra, a CAT employee, and other employees who benefitted from unauthorized changes in records related to their regularization in the Horticulture Department.

During the investigation, at least 12 official seals from various departments, including the Director of Horticulture and others, were seized from the residence of Pathan Majid Khan.

“Call Detail Records and WhatsApp communications confirmed the conspiracy and breach of trust by the CAT employee Anoop Mishra, as evident from the seized mobile phone of Pathan Majid Khan. Consequently, the charge sheet has been presented before the Hon'ble Court for judicial review,” the statement concluded.
