Ranchi, Sep 26 (NationPress) In two tragic road incidents occurring within a span of 12 hours in Jharkhand, a total of six individuals lost their lives and seven others sustained injuries, according to police reports on Friday.

The first accident took place on Friday afternoon close to the Badkitand junction in the Taratand police jurisdiction on the Giridih-Tundi main road.

A speeding truck collided head-on with a pickup van, resulting in the van flipping over. The collision resulted in the immediate deaths of three passengers.

The deceased have been identified as Nand Kishore (47), Kamal (38), and Jagdish Bhokta (45). Seven others were seriously injured, with two later being referred to Shahid Nirmal Mahto Medical College in Dhanbad for advanced medical care.

Police officials, including SDPO Jeetwahan Oraon, arrived at the scene shortly after the accident. With assistance from local residents, the injured were rescued and transported to medical facilities.

Initial reports suggest that most of the pickup van passengers were migrant workers from Bengabad in Giridih, who were employed in Hazaribagh and were returning home to celebrate the Durga Puja holidays with their families.

Earlier, on late Thursday night, another fatal incident occurred near the Jharia junction on NH-18 within the Baharagora police station area of East Singhbhum district.

In this instance, a Maruti Swift car heading from Kolkata to Jamshedpur was struck from behind by a speeding truck. The force of the impact was so severe that the car was utterly destroyed, killing all three occupants instantly.

The deceased have been identified as Ganesh Rai (50), the vehicle's driver; Kusumita Patnaik (55), a Jamshedpur resident; and her daughter Monica Patnaik (28).

The family had traveled to Kolkata for personal matters and was on their way back to Jamshedpur when the tragedy occurred.

The bodies were released to the family following post-mortem examinations at a government hospital on Friday afternoon.
