Ghatsila (Jharkhand), Nov 7 (NationPress) The campaigning for the Ghatsila Assembly bypoll has reached an intense level, with both the BJP and JMM ramping up efforts to secure this critical seat.
On Friday, Jharkhand Chief Minister and JMM President Hemant Soren rallied in support of party candidate Somesh Soren and launched a scathing critique of the BJP, accusing them of employing deceit, power, and money to sway the by-election.
Speaking at a rally in Dhalbhumgarh, Soren asserted that the people of Jharkhand were resolute in their determination to defeat the BJP once again.
He cautioned voters against misleading political forces, stating: “Rumour-mongers, intimidators, and bribery agents will emerge from various quarters. Remain vigilant and discern such individuals.”
Soren emphasized that Jharkhand is governed by a coalition of tribals, indigenous people, the underprivileged, farmers, women, youth, laborers, Dalits, and backward classes. He highlighted his government’s implementation of numerous welfare initiatives, including financial aid for women, waivers on electricity bills, and support programs for pensions, rations, and housing.
In his appeal for support for Somesh Soren, the Chief Minister noted that the bypoll was necessitated by the passing of his father, former minister Ramdas Soren.
“Support Somesh Soren to realize his father’s vision for development and continue his legacy of public service,” he urged.
Reflecting on Ramdas Soren’s role in the Jharkhand statehood movement, he mentioned that the late leader was instrumental in advocating for the preservation of water, forests, and land, as well as fighting for the rights of tribals and marginalized communities.
The BJP has nominated Babulal Soren, the son of Seraikela MLA and former Chief Minister Champai Soren. Babulal had previously lost the election in Ghatsila. The party has framed the election as a battle to “liberate Ghatsila from mafias, looters, corrupt elements, and infiltrators.”
In their appeal to voters, the BJP stated: “Residents of Ghatsila, your vote will not only shape your region's future but also determine your children's destiny. For a brighter and safer future, we urge you to support NDA candidate, Babulal Soren, in the upcoming bypoll.”
The Ghatsila by-election is scheduled for November 11, with results to be counted on November 14, coinciding with the Bihar Assembly poll results.
