New Delhi, June 8 (NationPress) Spiritual leader Sri Sri Ravi Shankar on Sunday commended the administration led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi for initiating a series of groundbreaking projects over the past eleven years. He expressed his delight regarding the newly established rail link connecting the Kashmir Valley to the mainland.
The Art of Living Foundation founder stated in an interview with IANS, “Our visits to Kashmir date back to the 1980s. The residents of the Kashmir Valley had never encountered a train, often traveling to Jammu just to see one. It’s a moment of immense joy that after so many years, the Kashmir Valley is now linked to the rest of the nation by rail. People can now travel from Kanyakumari to Kashmir and back. This is indeed commendable.”
He continued, “When individuals from diverse regions, each with their unique identities and cultures, come together and share their perspectives, it reveals the essence of a multifaceted nation like India.”
Furthermore, he noted that the Jammu and Kashmir region has seen remarkable changes in recent years, highlighted by a significant drop in terrorism and a rise in tourism, which is providing the area with a fresh identity.
“In the past eleven years, India has achieved significant advancements across various sectors. Notably, it has ascended to become the fourth-largest economy globally and is swiftly approaching the status of the third-largest economic power. This is a positive development,” the spiritual leader remarked.
Sri Sri Ravi Shankar emphasized that, in addition to the increase in developmental projects, numerous innovative initiatives have visibly transformed lives across different sectors.
“Currently, government assistance is being directly transferred to the bank accounts of marginalized families, effectively eliminating middlemen and addressing systemic issues. Women are breaking traditional stereotypes and are becoming a formidable force in nearly every profession,” he stated.
The spiritual leader also praised the Modi administration's commitment to balancing ‘vikas and virasat’, highlighting the restoration of temples and various pilgrimage sites as efforts to rejuvenate the rich heritage of Sanatan Dharma. He noted that millions are celebrating the revival of ancient temples that had fallen into disrepair, which have now become thriving spiritual hubs.
“Major pilgrimage destinations such as Mahakal, Kashi Vishwanath, Kedarnath, and the Ayodhya temple have experienced revitalization. This is profoundly heartening for devotees of Sanatan Dharma,” he concluded.
