SS(UBT) MP Urges PM and EAM to Formulate Strategies for the Rescue of Persecuted Hindus in Bangladesh

Mumbai, Dec 2 (NationPress) Shiv Sena (UBT) MP, Priyanka Chaturvedi, on Monday highlighted the distressing circumstances of Hindu minorities in conflict-affected Bangladesh and urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi and External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar to devise strategies for their potential rescue.
In individual letters addressed to PM Modi and EAM Jaishankar, Chaturvedi passionately appealed for a bilateral engagement with Muhammad Yunus, the leader of the Bangladesh caretaker government, to hold his administration responsible for the targeted violence against the Hindu minority.
“Moreover, it is crucial to consider strategies for potential rescue and support operations for Hindus in Bangladesh to ensure their safety and dignity,” emphasized the SS(UBT) Rajya Sabha MP in her correspondence.
Supporting her claims, Priyanka Chaturvedi noted that since August, India has witnessed a surge in violence against Hindus and other minorities in Bangladesh, with attacks on their places of worship, residences, and businesses.
“Even after the Indian government raised the issue, the situation has worsened significantly. The crisis escalated further with the detention of Vaishnavite leader and ISKCON member Chinmoy Krishna Das, who was denied bail by Bangladeshi authorities, leading to assaults on three Hindu temples,” highlighted Priyanka Chaturvedi.
Furthermore, efforts to prohibit ISKCON in Bangladesh, along with the apprehension of at least two more Brahmacharis, have heightened tensions, creating an atmosphere of fear among the Hindu minority, she stated.
Compounding the issue, Bangladeshi authorities have reportedly frozen bank accounts associated with ISKCON and, citing security concerns, barred over 63 Brahmacharis from entering India despite possessing valid visas and travel documents, Priyanka Chaturvedi added.
“These actions are not only discriminatory but seem to be intentional efforts to restrict the Hindu religious community and infringe upon their rights,” expressed Priyanka Chaturvedi, voicing her concerns.
She urged the PM and EAM to address the issue with the utmost urgency and requested their immediate response and action, as the plight of Hindus and other minorities, such as Christians and Buddhists, in Bangladesh continues to distress the Indian populace and political landscape for the past five months.
