Intolerance Towards Attacks on Hindus in Bangladesh: Basavaraj Bommai's Strong Statement

Bengaluru, Nov 28 (NationPress) In a vehement response to the detention of the ISKCON priest and the rising violence in Bangladesh, BJP MP Basavaraj Bommai stated on Thursday that attacks against Hindus in the South Asian nation are utterly unacceptable.

Through social media, Bommai urged, "I call upon the Government of India to take decisive measures, close the border with Bangladesh, identify Bangladeshis residing here, and repatriate them regardless of the cost."

"Moreover, the United Nations should intervene to halt the assaults on Hindus in Bangladesh," he insisted, emphasizing his concern.

Bommai labeled the situation in Bangladesh as alarming and in dire need of condemnation. He pointed out that Hindus are a minority there and are facing threats to their lives and properties.

He criticized the arrest of the ISKCON monk as unjust and arbitrary, emphasizing that the denial of bail and medical assistance reflects the oppressive nature of the Bangladesh government.

"Our government and society are generally very tolerant, but violence against Hindus in Bangladesh cannot be ignored," he cautioned.

Bommai accused the Bangladesh government of "polarizing" society and attempting to transform the nation into an Islamic state.

He reminded, "The Bangladesh government must not forget that their nation was established with the support of our Army."

"If the issue of violence is not addressed, it could jeopardize the good relations between our two countries," he warned.

He also pointed out that trade relations, encompassing everything from vegetables to food grains, are heavily reliant on India.

"Hence, I urge the Government of Bangladesh to immediately cease attacks on Hindus, release the ISKCON monk without delay, and restore peace while ensuring the safety of the minority Hindus in Bangladesh," Bommai demanded.

He has shared his message with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh.
