Chennai, Aug 17 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, M.K. Stalin, strongly criticized Governor R.N. Ravi on Sunday, accusing him of engaging in “cheap politics” and disseminating fear and misinformation about the DMK administration.

While addressing a gathering in Dharmapuri during the launch of an instant crop loan initiative under the Primary Agriculture Cooperative Societies (PACS), CM Stalin stated that the Governor's actions have exceeded those of the Opposition in attempting to tarnish the reputation of the state government.

“There is an individual residing in the Governor's bungalow whose cheap politics surpasses that of the Opposition. He ridicules the Dravidian Model, belittles our language, and even fabricates a non-existent Thirukkural. His relentless criticisms will only deepen our affection for Tamil culture and language,” Stalin remarked.

He dismissed the Governor's assertions regarding women's safety in Tamil Nadu, referencing statistics from the Union government.

“As per the National Crime Records Bureau, the state of Uttar Pradesh, governed by the BJP, ranks highest in crimes against women. If Tamil Nadu were indeed unsafe, how have we attracted investments totaling Rs 10 lakh crore since taking office?” he queried.

The Chief Minister also articulated his vision for the forthcoming 2026 Assembly elections, stating that the DMK government would return with renewed vigor through ‘Dravidian Model 2.0’.

“The next government will once more embody the Dravidian model. Dravidian Model 2.0 will elevate Tamil Nadu to unprecedented heights,” he asserted.

Highlighting his government’s key welfare initiatives, Stalin affirmed that women themselves are the finest ambassadors of these schemes.

He recalled how skeptics ridiculed the free bus travel initiative for women, predicting service reductions and fare increases. “We regarded it not as an expense but as an investment in women. Likewise, the Magalir Urimai Thittam has enabled women to save nearly Rs 50,000 since its launch,” he stated.

On the development front, Stalin inaugurated the instant crop loan scheme under PACS, allowing online applications to be processed and loan amounts credited to farmers’ accounts on the same day.

This initiative was launched on a pilot basis at Balajangamanahalli PACS in Adhiyamankottai, Dharmapuri, and will be expanded throughout the state.

During the event, the Chief Minister also distributed cheques to beneficiaries, inaugurated completed projects, and laid the groundwork for new development initiatives.

Point of View

The recent remarks by CM M.K. Stalin reflect a growing tension between state leadership and the central governance structure. It is crucial to assess how these political dynamics may impact governance and public sentiment in Tamil Nadu.
