Bhopal, July 4 (NationPress) Almost 100,000 exemplary students, who achieved over 75 percent marks in their class 12 exams in the 2024-25 academic year from the Madhya Pradesh Board of Secondary Education (MPBSE), celebrated on Friday as they received Rs 25,000 credited to their bank accounts.
This amount was electronically transferred by Chief Minister Mohan Yadav as part of the 'Pratibhashali Vidyarthi Protsahan' initiative during a ceremony held at the Kushabhau Thakre convention center, attended by Madhya Pradesh School Education Minister Uday Pratap Singh.
Several high-achieving students from various regions of Madhya Pradesh were awarded laptops directly by Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, while others received theirs later from Minister Uday Pratap Singh. The remaining students categorized as meritorious (those who scored around 75 percent) will also receive Rs 25,000 in their bank accounts, with the necessary bank details having been submitted through their schools.
The excitement among students who received laptops was palpable, especially since they had been eagerly awaiting this moment for over two months after the class 12 results were announced on May 6. Their joy was further amplified by the fact that they no longer had to persuade their parents to purchase laptops for their studies.
Speaking to IANS, numerous students expressed their happiness at finally owning laptops, a crucial tool for their future bachelor's degree pursuits. They conveyed heartfelt thanks to Chief Minister Mohan Yadav for this generous gift and hoped the government would persist with such initiatives.
"This day has been long awaited, and I am thrilled to have received a laptop. My heartfelt thanks to Chief Minister Mohan Yadav for this wonderful moment," said Mishra Gurjar, who scored 95.4 percent in class 12. Another student, Nikita Verma, emphasized the importance of the government continuing such schemes, noting that they motivate students to excel academically.
"There’s no longer a need to pressure my father to buy me a laptop. I am immensely grateful to CM Yadav for this opportunity," Nikita remarked.
Remarkably, among those selected under the meritorious category, 60 percent were girls and 40 percent were boys.
During his address, Chief Minister Yadav noted, "This trend signifies that girls are now making significant strides in academics. It’s time for boys to step up their game."
This initiative is part of the state's broader strategy to promote digital literacy and support the higher education goals of its youth. The 'Pratibhashali Vidyarthi Protsahan' program, which has been operational since 2009-10, has already aided over 430,000 students, with more than Rs 1,080 crore disbursed so far.
Last year, 89,710 students received support under this scheme. The 2025 iteration represents a substantial increase in both the number of beneficiaries and the budget.
According to official reports, the initiative encompasses both traditional and self-taught students from government and recognized private schools. It aligns with the state’s vision of cultivating a digitally competent generation and complements the national Digital India initiative.
