New Delhi, Sep 27 (NationPress) BJP National Spokesperson and Rajya Sabha MP Sudhanshu Trivedi has criticized the Trinamool Congress (TMC) and INDIA bloc leaders for allegedly disrespecting Hindu sentiments during the sacred Navratri festival. He specifically called out West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for her presence at a Durga Puja pandal where a contentious song was performed.
Speaking to reporters at the BJP headquarters in New Delhi, Trivedi remarked that while the nation collectively observes Navratri with reverence, “some leaders of the INDIA bloc are exposing their genuine attitudes.”
He claimed that the song “Jaldi mujhe le chalo, mere dil mein hai Kaaba aur mere mann mein hai Madina” was performed in the presence of Chief Minister Banerjee, labeling it a disrespect to Hindu beliefs.
Linking the incident to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's previous declaration that “we must combat Shakti,” he stated, “It seems the INDIA bloc has initiated an assault on Hindu faith right from the celebration of Navratri.”
Trivedi also pointed to a recent issue in Karnataka, where the Congress government invited a Booker Prize-winning Muslim author to inaugurate the renowned Mysuru Dasara celebrations, suggesting that this illustrates a pattern of “intentional appeasement.”
“While there’s nothing inappropriate about anyone holding Kaaba in their hearts or gazing upon Madina, the performance of such songs in a Durga Puja pandal, especially with the Chief Minister applauding, raises questions,” he queried.
He also accused the government of removing Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s posters and replacing them with those of CM Mamata Banerjee near a pandal he was to visit.
Additionally, he asserted that a pandal themed on “Operation Sindoor” was forcibly closed and denied government funding.
“Durga Puja holds a unique significance in the cultural and religious identity of West Bengal. By supporting such activities, Mamata Banerjee displays a lack of respect and appreciation for Hindu traditions,” Trivedi asserted, demanding that both CM Banerjee and Rahul Gandhi clarify their parties' true intentions.
