Surge in Demand for Kites Featuring PM Modi Ahead of Makar Sankranti in Gujarat

Gandhinagar, Jan 9 (NationPress) As Makar Sankranti draws near this year, the markets in Gujarat are filled with vibrant and colorful kites featuring the name of Prime Minister Narendra Modi along with his widely recognized political slogans, luring individuals from all corners of the country in significant numbers.

The Gujarat government also commemorates this festival with exceptional enthusiasm and grandeur.

Various styles of kites are available in markets statewide during this festive season.

Numerous social messages are inscribed on the kites sold throughout the state, incorporating slogans promoted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi such as “Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao”, and “Swachhata Abhiyan”.

The influence of PM Modi is clearly evident in Gujarat, as there is a notable rise in demand for PM Modi-printed manjhas and kites.

The kite flying festival has evolved into a significant attraction each year, where families gather to enjoy the festivities while also promoting social messages.

A local merchant, Keriwala, expressed to IANS: “This year, the market is not sluggish compared to previous years. People are purchasing fewer kites. I remain optimistic that sales will surge on Saturday or Sunday.”

He further noted: “Although various colorful kites are in demand, over the past few days, kite sales have not reached the usual levels. Additionally, a charkhi featuring Prime Minister Modi's name can also be found in the market, and people are showing a keen interest in purchasing this charkhi.”

Another local shopkeeper mentioned to IANS: “Prime Minister Modi's charkhi has just hit the market. There is a significant increase in demand for it, with many people buying kites. I have sold 50,000 Modi charkhis so far. In contrast, Kejriwal's charkhi is less sought after compared to PM Modi's, which is flying off the shelves across the state due to PM Modi's popularity and connection with the community.”

Shopkeeper Dilip Kumar told IANS: “In addition to kites and charkhis, we have started offering automatic charkhis. The demand for them is substantial. The excitement among people as Makar Sankranti approaches appears to be growing with each passing day.”
