New Delhi, July 15 (NationPress) The holy month of Sawan, celebrated with immense reverence, particularly among the followers of Lord Shiva, is marked by profound devotion and vibrant rituals across India. As the Kanwar Yatra commences, there is a notable increase in the demand for various religious items.
With the growing number of Kanwariyas, there has been a rise in the need for kanwars, decorative accessories, rudraksha beads, tridents (trishuls), damrus, and attire for Kanwariyas. The marketplaces in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, are bustling with activity, and vendors are experiencing a remarkable boost in sales.
A local shopkeeper expressed her thoughts while organizing her stall: “Business is thriving this year. The demand for these items is exceedingly high. Since the Kanwar Yatra began, the crowds have surged. The ghats constructed by PM Modi and CM Yogi are unparalleled; no leader has ever provided such facilities.”
To ensure the safety and manage the large crowds, the Uttar Pradesh Police have intensified security measures.
The guidelines issued by Director General of Police (DGP) Rajiv Krishna entail the deployment of 587 gazetted officers, 2,040 inspectors, 13,520 sub-inspectors, 39,965 head constables and constables, 1,486 women sub-inspectors, and 8,541 women constables and head constables.
Special provisions for 24/7 patrolling have been arranged, with UP-112 vehicles actively on duty.
Safety regulations for the Kanwar Yatra stipulate that devotees should walk only on the left side of highways, and food and resting camps must be set up at least 20 feet away from the roads.
Authorities have cautioned against speeding and reckless driving, implementing enhanced safety protocols, especially for women Kanwariyas.
In addition to ensuring public health and fairness, inspections of food quality are currently underway.
Meanwhile, in Delhi, the Kanwar Yatra is in full swing. Devotees from Rajasthan and other states have begun arriving in Delhi, carrying Ganga jal from Haridwar and Braj Ghat. The ambiance is charged with spiritual energy, with “Bol Bam” chants resonating through the air.
To guarantee safe passage, the Delhi Police have deployed over 3,000 police personnel and paramilitary forces along the Kanwar routes, with a special emphasis on maintaining cleanliness and law enforcement.
Whenever litter is observed, police document it and promptly notify municipal authorities for swift cleanup.
Furthermore, the Delhi government has established welcoming gates along the route to greet Kanwariyas and provide essential assistance, including water, medical care, and rest facilities.
