Belagavi (Karnataka), Jan 17 (NationPress) - Congress National General Secretary Randeep Singh Surjewala on Friday dismissed any possible changes in the leadership of the state party, affirming that D.K. Shivakumar will maintain his role.

While addressing the media at Belagavi Sambra airport, Surjewala emphasized that there is no infighting within the state unit and confirmed that D.K. Shivakumar will continue as the state party President.

He further clarified that no notice has been issued to Minister for PWD, Satish Jarkiholi. “I am unaware of any notice sent to Minister Jarkiholi. It is unclear who is disseminating false information regarding this issue. There is no justification to issue notices to any ministers or leaders,” he stated.

Minister Jarkiholi had previously called for the removal of Shivakumar from his position as State Congress President.

Surjewala further asserted that the BJP leaders are perpetuating rumors about supposed internal conflicts within the Congress party. “Do not fall for the false narratives propagated by the BJP,” he advised the press.

Insiders indicated that Surjewala plans to convene a meeting with Minister Jarkiholi, who has been vocal about the demand for leadership changes and has been pushing for the ousting of Dy CM Shivakumar as the State Congress President.

Ministers G. Parameshwara, K.N. Rajanna, and H.C. Mahadevappa have also made remarks openly challenging Dy CM Shivakumar, much to his dismay.

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is set to complete a two-and-a-half-year term in November this year. Sources reveal that Shivakumar has begun asserting his claim for the role of CM. This situation has led to demands from CM Siddaramaiah’s faction for Shivakumar to step down as the state party president.

Supporters of CM Siddaramaiah, including Minister K.N. Rajanna and others, are actively attempting to displace Shivakumar from the State Congress President position, according to Vijayendra.

Karnataka BJP President B.Y. Vijayendra stated on Thursday that it is time for Siddaramaiah to resign as the Chief Minister of Karnataka. He added, “According to my sources, CM Siddaramaiah's time has come to resign as the CM of Karnataka. I heard that there was an internal agreement between Siddaramaiah and Dy CM D.K. Shivakumar at their high command level. However, Siddaramaiah is eager to retain his position and is reluctant to relinquish the CM role to Shivakumar or any other leader.”

The supporters of CM Siddaramaiah, including Minister K.N. Rajanna and others, are pushing to remove Shivakumar from the State Congress President position, as noted by Vijayendra.
