Kolkata, Nov 8 (NationPress) The Leader of Opposition in the West Bengal Assembly, Suvendu Adhikari, criticized Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for her apparent hypocrisy regarding the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process after he claimed that she accepted the enumeration form from a Booth Level Officer (BLO) on November 7.

Adhikari also alleged that police attempted to obstruct the BLO from delivering the forms to Banerjee's residence.

During a press briefing, the BJP leader stated: "Hypocrisy defines Mamata Banerjee and the Trinamool Congress. Banerjee had previously proclaimed at the Netaji Indoor Stadium that the SIR would not take place in Bengal. Her Deputy had declared intentions to surround the Election Commission with thousands of supporters. For months, TMC activists intimidated BLOs, threatened officials, and spread fear, asserting that SIR equates to NRC, instilling fear among both Muslims and Hindu refugees."

In his attack on Banerjee and her party, Adhikari noted: "But what is the reality? A courageous BLO, Gautam Babu, approached Mamata Banerjee’s residence. TMC guards and 'Mamata Police' tried to prevent him. He stood his ground and insisted on delivering it directly to the voter as per the Election Commission of India's regulations. Ultimately, Mamata Banerjee herself received the SIR form from the BLO. This is the same Chief Minister who vowed she would not permit SIR, yet personally accepted the enumeration form. Additionally, TMC’s mouthpiece, 'Jago Bangla', reported that voter Mamata Banerjee received her SIR form herself."

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee refuted the claim of personally accepting the enumeration form from the BLO but acknowledged that such forms were delivered to her official residence.

"The BLO responsible visited our locality for their designated tasks. As part of the procedure, he came to my residence office, assessed the number of voters present, and handed them the forms," Banerjee clarified in a social media post.

"Until every individual in Bengal has filled the forms, I have not filled any form myself and will refrain from doing so. Numerous media outlets have reported that I stepped out of my residence and received the enumeration form from the BLO personally! This information is entirely inaccurate, misleading, and a deliberate attempt at propaganda," added the Chief Minister.

Meanwhile, Adhikari claimed that the BLO faced obstruction from entering the area where the Chief Minister resides. He further alleged that the Trinamool Congress was among the first to embrace the SIR process, as its leaders and ministers have been photographed with enumeration forms.

"Residents in the Chief Minister's locality live a life of confinement due to security measures. When the BLO arrived, he was halted. Later, he returned with the SIR form and was granted access to Banerjee's residence," concluded Adhikari.
