Budapest, Nov 13 (NationPress) India and Hungary engaged in discussions on Thursday aimed at fortifying their bilateral relationship, with a focus on enhancing collaboration surrounding the India-EU Strategic Partnership and the expedited finalization of a trade agreement between India and the European Union (EU).
The dialogue took place during a meeting between India's Ambassador to Hungary, Anshuman Gaur, and Barna Pal Zsigmond, the Deputy Minister and Parliamentary State Secretary at Hungary's Ministry of European Union Affairs.
"The Ambassador had a thorough and productive discussion with Mr. Barna Pal Zsigmond, focusing on the enhancement of the India-Hungary bilateral partnership and cooperation on matters pertaining to the India-EU Strategic Partnership and the swift conclusion of the India-EU trade pact. Both parties expressed a mutual commitment to strengthening ties in both economic and political domains," the Indian Embassy in Hungary noted on X.
The relationship between India and Hungary is characterized by its closeness, friendliness, and multifaceted nature. The Hungarian populace recalls with appreciation India's pivotal role during the 1956 uprising when New Delhi's intervention with the Soviet Union preserved the life of Arpad Goncz, who later served as Hungary's President from 1990 to 2000. On November 7, members of the Indian community came together at the Amrita Shergil Cultural Centre of the Embassy of India in Budapest to celebrate the 150th anniversary of India's national song, 'Vande Mataram.' During this occasion, Ambassador Gaur underscored the historical and emotional importance of the song.
