Jaipur, 21 July (NationPress) The Swachh Survekshan Gramin 2025, part of the Swachh Bharat Mission Phase-2, is set to utilize geo-fencing and a mobile application for its data collection for the very first time.
In an innovative move, a dedicated Citizen Feedback App has been created to collect public opinions on rural sanitation standards. This announcement was made by Union Minister of State for Jal Shakti, V. Somanna, in reply to a query posed in the Rajya Sabha by BJP State President and MP Madan Rathore.
MP Rathore indicated that the survey will encompass 34 states/UTs, 761 districts, and 21,000 villages throughout the nation.
The assessment will focus on service-level advancements, direct observations of village cleanliness, functionality of sanitation facilities, and citizen feedback, with the final evaluation based on a total of 1,000 marks.
Key innovations this year include the geo-tagging of sanitation resources and the incorporation of geo-fencing within the data collection software.
Rathore highlighted that these initiatives will promote increased accuracy and transparency in monitoring rural sanitation initiatives.
"This time, 34 states and union territories are participating in Swachh Survekshan Gramin 2025. The survey will evaluate cleanliness in 761 districts and 21000 villages across India, focusing on service level, direct cleanliness observations, plant functionality, and citizen feedback. The evaluation will be scored out of 1,000 marks, stated Rathore.
He further noted that an independent survey agency will conduct the survey and provide national rankings based on both quantitative and qualitative cleanliness measures.
To enhance public awareness and participation, the government is organizing workshops and promoting the initiative through social media campaigns. The survey's monitoring is facilitated through the dedicated SSG portal.
This innovative and technology-driven approach aims to reinforce the goals of the Swachh Bharat Mission and elevate sanitation standards in India's rural areas.
