New Delhi, Nov 2 (NationPress) Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal on Sunday accused the Punjab government of trying to stifle media coverage regarding her recent claims against Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, by hindering newspaper distribution throughout the state.
Maliwal took to the social media platform X, stating: "Shocking! This morning, the Punjab government has allegedly tried to obstruct the distribution of newspapers in several areas. This is all happening because news about Arvind Kejriwal ji’s Sheesh Mahal 2.0 is spreading like wildfire across Punjab."
"Media outlets are facing threats that if they cover this news or show Swati Maliwal, they will lose government advertisements. We are witnessing dictatorship at its peak!" she added.
This statement follows a series of posts made by Maliwal on Saturday, where she intensified her criticism of Arvind Kejriwal and the Aam Aadmi Party, accusing them of misusing government resources and of developing a lavish residential complex she dubbed "Sheesh Mahal 2.0" in Punjab.
Maliwal claims that a two-acre, seven-star government bungalow in Chandigarh’s Sector 2, which was originally meant for the Punjab Chief Minister, has been allegedly allocated to Kejriwal. She further claimed that two more luxury bungalows owned by the government in Sector 39, No. 960, allegedly meant for former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, and No. 926 for former Delhi minister Satyendar Jain, have also been taken over by AAP leaders who have moved from Delhi.
"Occupying government property is a crime," Maliwal asserted, accusing the Punjab government of providing similar benefits to various AAP officials from Delhi now residing in Chandigarh.
She also alleged that Kejriwal recently traveled from the bungalow premises to Ambala using a government helicopter before heading to Gujarat in a Punjab government jet for party-related activities.
The Aam Aadmi Party and the Punjab government have yet to respond to Maliwal’s latest accusations.
