Chennai, Nov 13 (NationPress) Various regions in Tamil Nadu are anticipated to receive light to moderate rainfall today, as indicated by the recent weather bulletin from the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

This forecast also mentions the likelihood of isolated heavy showers in certain southern districts. The IMD's statement highlights that one or two areas across Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal may experience light to moderate rain today due to the existing atmospheric conditions over the Bay of Bengal.

The department noted that convection activity is projected to persist in the region for the next few days. Specifically, the districts of Ramanathapuram, Tenkasi, Thoothukudi, Tirunelveli, and Kanyakumari are under monitoring, with the IMD forecasting the potential for isolated heavy rainfall. These areas have been experiencing intermittent rain over the past week, and officials have been cautioned to remain vigilant regarding localized weather disruptions.

The IMD further indicated that over the next two days, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal may see light rainfall in one or two locations, signifying a continuation of the current wet conditions. While widespread rain is not anticipated, sudden short-duration showers may occur, particularly in the evening and night hours.

In Chennai, the sky is expected to be partly cloudy throughout the day. Light to moderate rain may affect several neighborhoods, particularly in the northern and central regions of the city.

Meteorologists have suggested that moisture-laden winds from the sea could lead to brief showers. The maximum temperature in Chennai is projected to be around 33 degrees Celsius, with a minimum expected between 25 degrees and 26 degrees.

The IMD also pointed out that despite the possibility of rain, overall humidity levels may remain elevated, resulting in a slightly warm and sticky day for residents.

As the northeast monsoon is currently active over Tamil Nadu, officials are closely monitoring the rainfall patterns as the state enters a crucial phase of seasonal showers.

The IMD has urged the public to stay informed through local weather alerts and to exercise caution during heavy rain, especially in vulnerable areas of the southern districts.

Currently, no significant weather disturbances, such as a low-pressure system or depression, have been predicted. However, meteorologists are keeping a close eye on developments over the southwest Bay of Bengal, where conditions are favorable for cloud formation and intermittent rainfall across the region.
