Chennai, March 14 (NationPress) The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted that certain areas in Tamil Nadu may experience moderate rainfall over the upcoming week, attributed to a low-pressure system situated in the southern region.

The IMD has noted that this weather system is likely to primarily affect the southern coastal districts, while the majority of the state is expected to remain predominantly dry.

In a statement released on Saturday, the IMD indicated that light rain could occur in one or two locations within the coastal districts of southern Tamil Nadu. Conversely, the rest of Tamil Nadu, along with the Union Territories of Puducherry and Karaikal, is anticipated to see dry weather throughout the day.

Similar conditions are projected for Sunday, with the potential for light rain in isolated areas along the southern Tamil Nadu coast, while other regions of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal are likely to remain dry.

Weather officials have also mentioned that isolated areas in the Nilgiris and some districts in southern Tamil Nadu could receive light rain over the next two days. Aside from these locations, most parts of Tamil Nadu and the Union Territories of Puducherry and Karaikal are expected to experience dry weather.

Looking ahead to March 17, the IMD has forecasted the chance of light to moderate rainfall, accompanied by thunderstorms at isolated sites across southern Tamil Nadu, the northern interior districts, the delta regions, and Karaikal. Meanwhile, other areas in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry are likely to continue experiencing dry conditions.

The department added that there may be no significant changes in maximum temperatures across Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal in the coming days, although a slight increase in temperatures may occur in specific areas.

In Chennai and nearby regions, the sky is expected to remain partly cloudy on Saturday. The maximum temperature in the city is projected to range from 33 degrees Celsius to 34 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature is likely to be between 24 degrees Celsius and 25 degrees Celsius.

The IMD also emphasized that no particular warnings have been issued for fishermen, suggesting that sea conditions along the Tamil Nadu coastline are expected to remain generally safe for fishing activities during this period.
