Giridih (Jharkhand), July 17 (NationPress) Senior politician from Jharkhand’s Jamtara, Tarun Kumar Gupta, has made a comeback to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday after a six-year break. BJP state president and Leader of Opposition in the Jharkhand Assembly, Babulal Marandi, graciously welcomed Gupta back to the party at his residence in Giridih, presenting him with the party emblem as a sign of his reintegration.
A former head of the BJP's Jamtara district unit, Gupta has previously contested Assembly elections twice as a BJP candidate and twice as an independent candidate.
Additionally, he has held the position of vice-president of the district’s 20-point programme implementation committee.
Renowned for his strong grassroots organizational skills, Gupta was expelled from the party six years ago for opposing the official BJP candidate.
Upon rejoining, Gupta expressed his gratitude towards the party and reaffirmed his commitment. “I will work diligently to honor the faith and respect the party has shown by welcoming me back. Whatever role I am assigned, I will undertake it with complete sincerity. My objective is to fortify the BJP and elevate it to new heights in Santhal Pargana,” he stated.
Welcoming him back, Babulal Marandi noted that Gupta's return would significantly strengthen the party’s efforts in the region.
“Although Tarun Gupta was away from the BJP for a period, his return is a joyous occasion for all of us. His grassroots experience and organizational abilities will inject new vitality not just in Jamtara but throughout the Santhal Pargana region,” Marandi commented.
Santhal Pargana has historically posed challenges for the BJP, where the party has struggled to achieve substantial success in both the 2019 and 2024 Assembly elections. The party aims to rejuvenate its organizational strength in the region with Gupta’s return.
