Ex-Jharkhand CM Raghubar Das Promises a Strong Comeback After Rejoining BJP

Ranchi, Jan 10 (NationPress) Former Odisha Governor and Chief Minister of Jharkhand, Raghubar Das, officially returned to active politics on Friday during a grand event in Ranchi where he rejoined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) amidst a gathering of thousands of enthusiastic supporters and senior party leaders. The occasion was filled with jubilation, highlighted by the sound of firecrackers set off by his supporters.
In his address at the event, Das shared his sentiments regarding this new chapter in his political career. “Beginning anew as a dedicated worker of the BJP feels akin to returning to the nurturing embrace of my mother. Serving as a Governor was an esteemed position, but being a ‘servant’ of an organization like the BJP is truly an honor. I have rejoined the party to serve it with unyielding dedication until my final breath,” he expressed.
Reflecting on his political journey, Das stated: "Today marks a historic moment for me. I am rejoining the party for the second time since 1980. The day I resigned before my gubernatorial appointment to the National President of the party, JP Nadda, on October 26, 2023, was deeply emotional. The respect and recognition I have received as someone from a modest background could only happen within the BJP."
Commenting on the party's recent hurdles, Das noted, “The outcomes of the latest Assembly elections were not in our favor, yet setbacks are an inherent part of politics. We must remain steadfast and keep working diligently towards our party’s principles. I strongly believe we will achieve a significant comeback shortly.”
Das also conveyed goodwill towards the newly-formed coalition government led by Hemant Soren, stating: "We honor the mandate given to the government and expect it to fulfill its promises. However, should they fail to deliver on their commitments or deceive the populace, we will escalate our efforts from the streets to the Assembly."
He expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, party President Nadda, and state President Babulal Marandi for facilitating his return to the BJP.
The membership ceremony, which took place at the BJP’s state headquarters, was attended by notable leaders, including state BJP chief Marandi, Minister of State for Defence Sanjay Seth, state Executive President Ravindra Ray, Regional Organisation Minister Nagendra, MPs Manish Jaiswal, Kalicharan Singh, Aditya Sahu, former Leader of the Opposition Amar Bauri, and many MLAs and state leaders.
Raghubar Das’s return to active politics comes at a pivotal moment for the BJP, which is strategizing to bolster its leadership in Jharkhand. There is growing speculation that Das may re-assume a leadership role in the state, as the party is set to finalize the state president's name in February.
Having previously served twice as Jharkhand BJP President and as the party’s National Vice President, Das is acknowledged as one of the foremost OBC leaders in the state. There are also discussions about assigning him a significant organizational responsibility at the national level.
