Amaravati, April 27 (NationPress) The YSR Congress Party has leveled allegations against the TDP-led coalition government in Andhra Pradesh, claiming it is utilizing official machinery to pursue a vindictive agenda and settle personal grievances.
YSRCP Legal Cell president M. Manohar Reddy addressed the media, asserting that the coalition has established a troubling precedent by filing a counter case, as seen in the incident involving actress Kadambari Jethwani.
He explained that although Jethwani was lawfully apprehended in Mumbai and subsequently presented in a Vijayawada court, where she was granted bail, the coalition government retaliated by launching a counter case against the investigative officers involved, thus creating a dangerous precedent.
The YSRCP leader accused the government of being vindictive by targeting police officials who have maintained a commendable record of law enforcement during the arrest of (now Chief Minister) Chandrababu Naidu in the Skill Development scam, among other cases.
According to Reddy, the sequence of events following the coalition's assumption of power indicates a clear case of vendetta. He highlighted that the counter case was filed over seven months after the original complaint.
“Jethwani altered her testimony, asserting that she and her family experienced harassment. She echoed what the coalition leaders desired,” Reddy stated, noting that she has faced multiple legal issues.
The YSRCP leader pointed out that arrests, from the original complainant Kukkala Vidyasagar Rao to the DG rank officer PSR Anjaneyulu, demonstrate how the government is misusing its authority. He warned that if such practices continue, it could lead to numerous violations and counter cases against both the original complainant and the investigative team.
In another development, former minister Merugu Nagarjuna urged the coalition government to fulfill its promise of the Talliki Vandanam scheme by transferring Rs 15,000 to every school-going student’s mother’s account.
He accused Chandrababu Naidu’s government of attempting to evade the Talliki Vandanam scheme, citing financial constraints. “This promise concerns the future of our children, and we demand that the funds be deposited into the mothers’ accounts as pledged by the coalition during their campaign,” he stated.
Nagarjuna emphasized that the YSRCP government, under Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, has initiated significant reforms in education, allocating Rs 72,903 crores for education-related initiatives, while Naidu's government has faltered in delivering on its promise to provide Rs 15,000 to each school-going child.
He noted that the Jagan Mohan Reddy administration has transferred Rs 26,067 crore into the bank accounts of over 44 lakh mothers of 83 lakh students throughout his tenure via the Amma Vodi scheme, and has also ensured provisions for the fifth year as the state approaches elections.
