Jaipur, Feb 24 (NationPress) A man has been apprehended by the police concerning the tragic murder of a 13-year-old girl, who was tragically killed while heading to her Class 8 board examination in a village located in Rajasthan's Bikaner district.

On February 21, the young girl departed from her home at approximately 12:15 p.m. to reach a nearby examination center. When she failed to arrive at school, the administration notified her family around 1:46 p.m.

A search operation was promptly launched, leading to the grim discovery of her body at a location not far from the village.

This disturbing incident sparked outrage in the Vidhan Sabha on Monday, where opposition members called for immediate action to combat such heinous crimes within the state.

Superintendent of Police Kavendra Singh Sagar reported that after three days of relentless investigation, including technical analysis and thorough questioning, police made significant progress in the case. CCTV evidence revealed the suspect entering the vicinity around the time of the crime and later leaving, raising suspicion.

During interrogation, the suspect initially provided false information about his location. However, after extensive scrutiny and questioning, he reportedly admitted to strangling the young girl.

Authorities are also investigating the possibility of a sexual assault; confirmation will depend on the results of the post-mortem and medical evaluations.

Investigations are ongoing, with various aspects of the case being explored.

The Bikaner Police have reiterated their dedication to carrying out a comprehensive, fair, and timely investigation, promising stringent legal action against the perpetrator.

In the meantime, family members and local residents are protesting, demanding firm action and compensation, which has delayed the post-mortem procedure.

A significant number of individuals are staging a sit-in outside the mortuary at Bajju Hospital in Bikaner district, as no arrests have yet been made.

Community members are insisting on immediate accountability from those responsible, declaring that the post-mortem will only proceed once the accused are apprehended.

Political leaders from the Congress, BJP, and other parties joined the protest. MLA Anshuman Singh Bhati emphasized that offenders would face justice, stating discussions had occurred with senior police officials and the Home Minister. Former Energy Minister Bhanwar Singh Bhati, Kesh Kala Board Chairman Mahendra Gehlot, Rural President Bishnaram Siyag, Pradhan Bhagirath Teterwal, and Ganpat Seegad also participated in the demonstration.
