Tejashwi Yadav Claims Nitish Kumar is Misusing Taxpayer Funds for Mahila Samvad Yatra

Patna, Dec 14 (NationPress) The Leader of the Opposition in Bihar, Tejashwi Yadav, asserted on Saturday that Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is misusing taxpayer funds for his Mahila Samvad Yatra.
The Rural Development Department had previously outlined the financial distribution for the Yatra, which is purportedly aimed at enhancing women’s empowerment initiatives.
Tejashwi Yadav highlighted that the government plans to allocate a significant amount of taxpayer money—Rs 225.78 crore—for this program.
According to the Rural Works Department notification, specific budget allocations include Rs 104.1093 crore for social media outreach and advertising, alongside Rs 114.0327 crore designated for refreshments for participants. Additionally, Rs 2.3355 crore has been sanctioned for data analysis and management related to the initiative, which will facilitate the collection and evaluation of data during the event,” Tejashwi Yadav posted on X.
He expressed that the entire campaign, including promotional expenditures, appears to be focused on bolstering the Chief Minister’s public image, which has suffered recently.
He juxtaposed this spending against the ruling government's claims of financial limitations, referring to Nitish Kumar's previous critiques of the opposition's promises regarding job creation, particularly the promise of 10 lakh government jobs.
Tejashwi Yadav labeled the Chief Minister’s actions as “hypocrisy,” pointing out that Nitish Kumar had previously questioned the opposition’s funding sources for such commitments, yet is now utilizing crores of taxpayer money to enhance his own reputation.
The Bihar government has delineated the objectives of the Mahila Samvad program, which aims to enhance awareness of existing women-focused policies and ensure their benefits reach all societal levels.
The Mahila Samvad initiative is set to facilitate meaningful conversations with women throughout rural Bihar, with the primary goal of collecting insights on their aspirations, challenges, and needs.
This program is scheduled to commence on December 15 across all districts in the state, engaging women from rural backgrounds, with the timetable subject to adjustments based on needs.
