Are Tejashwi’s Statements Indicating Serious Concerns Over Bihar's Election Process?

New Delhi, July 26 (NationPress) Congress MP Abhishek Singhvi commented on Saturday that Leader of Opposition in the Bihar Assembly, Tejashwi Yadav, has expressed significant concern regarding the potential boycott of the upcoming Assembly elections by the Mahagathbandhan, illustrating his deep frustration.

“It is crucial to understand the underlying distress in his remarks. What political party would willingly abstain from participating in an election after investing so much effort in Bihar?” he stated while addressing reporters in Delhi.

Singhvi noted that Tejashwi Yadav’s remarks also convey a sense of anger and despair, suggesting that the Opposition is being pressured to engage in an election that seems already skewed in favor of their opponents.

The Congress MP indicated that the threat of disenfranchisement looms over millions in Bihar, leaving all avenues open to the populace regarding this matter.

“If a united response is mobilized against this process, it would reflect poorly on those expected to protect democratic institutions. In such a case, what credibility would remain for the Election Commission?” he questioned.

Earlier, on Thursday, Tejashwi Yadav remarked, “We are actively evaluating the situation with the voter list and are considering the option of boycotting the elections.”

He emphasized that elections hold “no significance if they are compromised.”

Tejashwi accused the voter revision process of widespread fraud, claiming, “Numerous forms are being submitted at a single location with forged signatures. The process led by the Election Commission, supposedly under government influence, is a scam aimed at artificially boosting voter numbers. How can foreigners be on the list when the NDA has governed Bihar for 20 years and the Centre for 11?”

He expressed frustration over Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's lack of response to questions in the House regarding the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of Bihar's electoral rolls, suggesting that the silence indicates the government's tacit approval of the ECI's alleged fraudulent activities.

Tejashwi pointed out that the ECI's affidavit submitted to the Supreme Court does not address the issue of foreign voters.

He stated that it is the responsibility of the Union Home Ministry to identify illegal foreigners, not the Election Commission.

Tejashwi also accused Deputy CM Samrat Chaudhary of dishonesty, highlighting that the Labour Ministry has acknowledged in the Lok Sabha that three crore individuals migrate from Bihar for employment, which contradicts the government's narrative.
