Hyderabad, Oct 14 (NationPress) On Tuesday, an additional eleven nominations were submitted for the upcoming by-election on November 11 in the Jubilee Hills Assembly constituency of Hyderabad, Telangana.
The returning officer, P. Sairam, confirmed that 11 candidates, including seven Independents, have officially filed their nominations.
This brings the total nominations filed over the past two days to 21.
Among those who submitted their nomination papers are M. Venkat Reddy from the Paata Party, Mohammed Mansoor Ali representing Anna YSR Congress, Jajula Bhaskar from the Sharamjeevi Party, and L. Chandra Shekhar from the All India Kisan Janatha Party.
The by-election process commenced after the Returning Officer issued the notification on Monday.
Interestingly, no candidates from national or regional parties submitted their nominations in the initial two days.
Candidates are permitted to file their nominations until October 21. The scrutiny of these nominations will take place on October 22, with withdrawal of candidatures allowed until October 24.
Voting is scheduled for November 11, followed by vote counting on November 14.
This by-election was necessitated due to the passing of the sitting MLA, Maganti Gopinath of the BRS in June.
In the recent 2023 elections, Gopinath achieved a significant victory over former Indian cricket captain and Congress candidate Mohammed Azharuddin by a margin of 16,337 votes.
The BRS has put forth Gopinath’s wife, Maganti Sunitha, as its candidate, while the Congress party has selected Naveen Yadav.
