Hyderabad, May 26 (NationPress) The Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has summoned Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president and former minister K.T. Rama Rao for questioning regarding the Formula E case.

On Monday, Rama Rao confirmed that the ACB had issued him a notice for an enquiry scheduled on May 28. However, the BRS leader expressed his intention to comply after returning from an upcoming foreign trip.

“As a law-abiding citizen, I will certainly cooperate with the authorities despite viewing this case as nothing more than political harassment. I have planned my trip to the UK and USA for various events well in advance, and I will appear before the ACB upon my return. I have communicated this to the ACB officials in writing,” stated KTR.

The BRS criticized Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy for what they perceive as political revenge and pointed out the BJP's silence regarding Revanth Reddy's name appearing in the Enforcement Directorate chargesheet related to the National Herald case.

“While I acknowledge Revanth Reddy's zeal for political vendetta and his inconsistency in direction, it is noteworthy that just 48 hours ago, his name was mentioned in the ED chargesheet for his financial transactions linked to the National Herald case. Yet, within a day, he was seen mingling with BJP leaders, including PM Modi, with not a single BJP member commenting on his involvement in the money laundering allegations! Today, I receive a notice from the ACB. His failure as an administrator and leader is evident, but he excels in the realm of cheap vendetta politics,” KTR remarked on ‘X’.

The former minister had previously appeared before the ACB on January 9 concerning the conduct of the Formula E race in Hyderabad, which occurred in January 2023 during the BRS's governance.

In December, the ACB registered a case against Rama Rao, former Special Chief Secretary to the Government, Arvind Kumar, and former Chief Engineer of the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA), B.L.N. Reddy, citing alleged irregularities amounting to Rs 54.88 crore in the Formula E deal.

The FIR was initiated based on a complaint from M. Dana Kishore, Principal Secretary to the Government, MA&UD department, who alleged that foreign remittances were made without necessary approvals, leading to an additional tax burden of Rs 8.06 crore on the HMDA.

The complainant further alleged that payments were processed during the enforcement of the Model Code of Conduct for the State Legislative Assembly elections, without prior sanction from the Election Commission of India.

The FIR was filed under the Prevention of Corruption Act and various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), including 409 (criminal breach of trust) and 120B (criminal conspiracy).

Meanwhile, BRS MLC and KTR's sister K. Kavitha condemned the notice issued to KTR, claiming that the Revanth Reddy government is using the notice to distract from its failures and public issues.

Kavitha posted on X, asserting that the ACB notice is part of CM Revanth Reddy's corrupt political maneuvers.

Point of View
