Hyderabad, July 21 (NationPress) Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has placed the entire state administration on high alert due to the intense rainfall affecting the region.
He instructed all district Collectors on Monday to remain vigilant and implement necessary measures to prevent challenges arising from floods and other rain-related events.
He also urged all district authorities to be on standby around the clock during the months of July and August.
During a video conference with the Collectors, the Chief Minister emphasized the importance of obtaining rain forecast updates from the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) and notifying local authorities, farmers, and villagers at least three hours in advance.
CM Reddy noted that the state has experienced a 21 percent deficit in rainfall since June, and the recent heavy rains will provide some relief.
The Chief Minister assessed the situation regarding heavy rains, the supply of urea and fertilizers to farmers, traffic management in Hyderabad during the downpour, the deployment of medical teams to combat seasonal fevers, and the distribution of new ration cards.
With the rains causing significant traffic congestion in Greater Hyderabad, CM Revanth Reddy urged all departments to operate efficiently to address traffic issues and expedite rescue efforts in affected areas.
Officials informed him that the GHMC, alongside 150 teams from police, traffic departments, NDRF, SDRF, and HYDRAA, are already assigned to manage the situations emerging in flooded regions.
The Chief Minister instructed officials to be present on-site, continually monitoring the situation. The Collectors are tasked with ensuring that all departments collaborate with Police Commissioners and senior officials across all departments in Hyderabad to safeguard the public. The CM stressed that coordination should occur through the Command Control Room, adhering to the IMD forecast.
Authorities were also directed to take precautions to avert any loss of life and property due to the rains in various districts. Following reports of fatalities from lightning strikes in certain areas, the CM mandated officials to gather information to assist affected families.
CM Revanth Reddy also evaluated the readiness of the Medical and Health Department to hinder the spread of seasonal fevers like Dengue and other communicable diseases during the monsoon. A focus should be placed on safeguarding the health of individuals residing in tribal areas, ITDA agencies, and remote communities. Medical and health officials were instructed to ensure the presence of doctors at all PHCs and government hospitals.
The veterinary department must remain vigilant to protect livestock. The government will also allocate an emergency fund of Rs 1 crore to each district.
To enhance vigilance during heavy rainfall, the CM instructed Collectors to perform surprise inspections of PHCs and district hospitals and conduct field visits every morning.
The State Chief Secretary was tasked with providing daily reports on the Collectors' activities to the government. The CM warned of strict actions against authorities who neglect their responsibilities and display carelessness during this emergency.
