The Chief Minister, A. Revanth Reddy, conducted a review on Wednesday to assess the successful completion of the caste census.

Officials informed the Chief Minister that the data entry for the survey has been finalized, and a draft report will be prepared in the next day or two. He instructed them to ensure the final report is delivered to the Cabinet Sub-Committee by February 2.

Revanth Reddy noted that the recent extensive house-to-house survey has garnered attention across the nation, resulting in widespread acclaim for the state government regarding the successful execution of the survey.

The review meeting at the Integrated Command Control Centre was attended by Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka, Ministers Damodar Raja Narasimha, Uttam Kumar Reddy, Seethakka, Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, government advisors K. Keshava Rao, former Minister Jana Reddy, Chief Secretary Santhi Kumari, and senior officials from various departments.

The Chief Minister commended the officers and staff who contributed to the survey. He emphasized that the results of the caste census will play a crucial role in social empowerment and overall development of the BC, SC, ST, minority, and marginalized communities.

The successful execution of the survey exemplifies the government’s dedication to fulfilling the commitments made during the Assembly elections, according to the CM. He added that the statistical data will be utilized by the Dedicated BC Commission established by the government.

The state government initiated the extensive household survey (Socio-Economic Education Employment, Political Caste Survey 2024) on November 6. The survey concluded in the first week of December across all districts, with over one lakh employees, including enumerators, supervisors, and data entry personnel, engaged in the survey organized by the state Planning Department.

The survey encompassed around 1.16 crore families within the state. Enumerators conducted door-to-door assessments of each household and documented the information. The survey teams successfully gathered data from more than 96 percent of the families, and data entry has been completed.

Officials explained to the Chief Minister that some families did not participate in the survey for various reasons, including refusals to provide information, locked households, or unavailability.

Within two months of taking office, the Congress government approved the proposal on February 4 to execute the caste census through a household survey. A resolution was adopted in the Assembly on February 16.

A Cabinet sub-committee was formed by the state government on September 12 to finalize the necessary procedures. The six-member sub-committee, led by Irrigation and Civil Supplies Minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy, convened multiple times to formulate recommendations.

The Chief Minister reviewed the recommendations made by the Cabinet Sub-Committee on October 9. The Planning Department was designated as the nodal agency to conduct the survey.
