Hyderabad, Dec 1 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Telangana, A. Revanth Reddy, conducted a review of the ongoing development initiatives at the tribal shrine of Sammakka-Sarakka in Medaram on Monday, in anticipation of the renowned Medaram Jatra set to occur next month.
During a meeting with relevant ministers and officials, he emphasized the necessity of adhering to high quality standards in the development projects at Medaram. He directed engineers and other officials to perform regular site inspections and oversee the progress personally.
The Chief Minister cautioned that stringent actions would be taken against those officials who fail to fulfill their responsibilities.
Specific directives were provided concerning the enhancement of the road infrastructure, stone masonry, installation of electricity poles, pathways for devotees around the sacred areas (Gaddelu), and designated waiting areas for visitors.
While reviewing a PowerPoint presentation on the work status, the CM highlighted various precautionary measures to be implemented. He insisted that the Roads and Buildings Department (R&B), the Electricity Department, the Endowment, the Forest Department, and archaeologist Sthapathi Shivanagi Reddy should collaborate effectively to expedite the completion of the works.
He remarked that the preservation of tribal culture, traditions, and customs should be prioritized in the Medaram development efforts, urging officials to complete the projects within the designated timeframe.
Present at the meeting were Endowment Minister Konda Surekha, Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, State Scheduled Caste Development and Tribal Welfare Minister Adluri Laxman Kumar, Chief Minister's Advisor Vem Narender Reddy, Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao, and other officials.
The temple development initiatives are part of a comprehensive master plan. Recently, the Chief Minister visited the temple to finalize the blueprint.
This plan emphasizes the sacred grounds that encompass the platforms of Sammakka, Saralamma, Pagididdaraju, and Govindaraju, enabling countless devotees to offer their prayers with ease.
The development works are being undertaken in preparation for the Sammakka-Saralamma Jatara, which is set to commence on January 28, 2026.
Countless devotees from various regions of Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, and beyond attend this tribal fair.
The Chief Minister has previously urged the Central Government to recognize the Medaram Jatara, a significant tribal festival in Telangana, as a national festival and to allocate sufficient funds for organizing this prestigious event on a grand scale.
He also questioned the rationale behind the Central Government's lack of support for the largest tribal festival in Mulugu district when funds are being allocated for the Kumbh Mela.
